31 Days of Fall

31 Days of Fall: Tower of Terror 10 Miler

Hey there from beautiful Orlando! It’s tough to write about fall when it’s 80 degrees out and I’ve been sitting at the pool all day but last night was the runDisney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10 Miler, and it was an absolute blast so I figured since it was very Halloween-y I’d share it with y’all as part of my 31 days series!

31 Days of Fall: Tower of Terror 10 Miler

My 2 favorite times to come to Disney are Fall and around Christmas time because they decorate the parks for Halloween and then the Holidays and there are so many fun things to do! Some of my favorites are Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Wine and Dine Festival and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! After working here last summer I have tried to make it back every few months, my roommate from when I live here usually comes down with me and we do weekend trips, it’s always a really fun and relaxing weekend getaway! The last couple of trips I’ve done I’ve tried to plan around the runDisney races, especially since I am a runner and (it seems like) constantly training for one race or another, it makes sense to incorporate a few fun races into my training schedule! Last night I got to finish Tower of Terror 10 Miler, I was supposed to run it last year but I got sick and wasn’t able to participate unfortunately, so I was super excited for last night. I have to say it was one of the best races I’ve run!

The Disney Expos are the best, we started yesterday picking up my packet and wandering the expo, the highlight: getting to see all the medals for the Dopey Challenge in January, it was very cool and made the fact that I’ll be running 48.6 miles over 4 days, very, very real! The course was great, I’ve never done a night run so it was cool, they designed a “haunted course” there were villains along the way for pictures and they decorated the highways. One overpass had a massive spider hanging over the edge, another had Hades up on top and he was talking to everyone running underneath him, a few of the little ponds along the course had giant floating, glowing eyeballs in it. It was very cool, beyond what Disney had set up some of the costumes that the runners were wearing were absolutely amazing!

I ran in an Ariel themed costume and one of my friends from DC ran as Ursula so it was perfect! It was my first time really dressing up for a race so I decided to go simple and just wear the right colors for Ariel and a tutu. I got my tutu from the very talented Lesley of Greater Fitness, she makes amazing tutus and $3 from every tutu goes to Buzzed Besties, which is a charity fund for her cousin who is an Ovarian Cancer survivor. Buzzed Besties accepts donations that go toward paying her hospital bills! I really love that she’s using her business to help support her cousin! The tutu was super comfy and looked great, I was worried that I was going to want to take it off after a mile or 2 but it was actually perfect for the whole race!

We stopped by the Villains after party just long enough to ride Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror then headed home because we were both exhausted, it was a great night! I can’t wait for next years race, I may have to enlist my dad to run with me!

It was a beautiful weekend for running and it seems like everyone was posting on Facebook about one run or another, did you run or race this weekend? What are your favorite races to participate in?
