With the holidays in full swing, is anyone else having a hard time staying on track with their wellness goals? The last couple of weeks I feel like I have done nothing but eat and drink. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great, but I’m definitely starting to feel the effects of it and need to get into holiday survival mode!
Nicole put together an amazing Holiday Survival Guide to share with y’all and it is seriously amazing. It has everything from nutrition tips to stay healthy and combat the effects of this holiday season to ways to avoid the inevitable stress we all feel.
As I said in the first Wellness Wednesday post, it was really important to me to focus on being healthy this year. Twenty-four was a year of definite over-indulgence and I want 25 to be different. I’m already incorporating some of Nicole’s great tips, like meditating and drinking more green juice and lemon water, into my daily routines. As I keep working with her, I hope to add more tips and tricks into my daily routine! With that said, I’m still going to be enjoying my egg nog with a little bit of brandy and all the Christmas cookies I can get my hands on. This guide is definitely not about restriction, but instead is about moderation. It’s holiday survival without having to miss out on your favorite parts!
My dad has the coolest friends. I mean that in all seriousness. I’ve been so lucky to learn from, lean on, and hang out with all these amazing people he’s met throughout the years. Moving to San Diego has been no different. My dad is a big surfer and has been coming out to San Diego for most of my life to surf and spend time with one of his best friends. Over that time he has built a pretty great network of people that I’ve been able to rely on the last few months!
One of the awesome people I’ve met through him is Nicole. I teamed up with her to do some really fun photos about a month ago, and we started chatting and she has become a bit of a wellness guru for me! I’ve been really focusing on wellness since moving here — I’m trying to eat better, exercise more, and spend more time outside. While I was in DC, someone told me the West Coast looks good on me. Well a lot of that is thanks to Nicole’s awesome tips!
I’m teaming up with her again to bring you a new series! Twice a month Nicole will be doing a Wellness Wednesday Takeover, sharing different tips with you, including everything from the benefits of lemon to fitness tips! I hope you love her tips as much as I do!
I’m especially excited about this Wellness Wednesday post because I am seriously obsessed with lemon. If you know me you know it is the one thing that is always in my fridge (and sometimes the only thing in my fridge)! I’ve started drinking warm lemon water every morning and can definitely notice a difference!
What do you think of the new Wellness Wednesday series? Do you drink lemon water?
With all the big changes happening around here, I’m really excited to be able to start over with a clean slate, not only with my career but also with my health and diet. I’ve been trying really hard to eat better in the last six months and though I’ve been largely successful it was always so easy to cheat and pop something in the microwave or order take out when I was tired after a long day at work. That combined with the lack of motivation to exercise resulted in gaining quite a bit of weight that I’d really like to be rid of before spending three weeks on a beach in Bali. Note to self: just because you’re training for a marathon does not mean you get to eat anything you want… I’m taking advantage of my newfound free time and really focusing on getting into a routine of taking better care of myself, eating healthier and hopefully getting into better shape!
I picked it up the other day at Barnes & Noble and have already read through it! It has an amazing guide to clean eating, tips, “golden rules” for living a healthier lifestyle and more than 160 great and easy recipes for everything from juice to dinner entrees! The recipes are sectioned out into six chapters, each with a different focus: Replenish, Reboot, Recharge, Reenergize, Restore, Relax. The guide component is what made the book so appealing to me. Unlike a lot of health books that just give general guidelines and suggestions, Clean Slate includes two guides: a three-day cleanse and 21 day whole body detox. Both include detailed daily menus using the recipes in the book as well as tips on how to stay on track.
I’m hoping that by essentially starting from scratch with a clean slate I’ll be able to get into a more solid routine of cooking and eating healthier, exercising more and eating take out less. I’m so excited to start the 21 day detox this weekend to reset my body before my trip to Bali. I’ll be sure to check in with y’all a couple of times in the next few weeks and let you know how Clean Slate is working its way into my lifestyle. If any of you have any tips before I start I’d love to hear them!!
Have you jumped on the clean eating bandwagon?
