Is anyone else as excited as I am that February is over and we’re a week into March? I don’t know why but February always feels like the longest month to me. Thankfully, this year was definitely a little better because San Diego winters are a lot less harsh than D.C. and Boston, but I can’t help feeling like spring is here and I’m so excited!
As y’all know I love to travel and do it a lot. One of my favorite parts of blogging having the flexibility to explore new places! Over the past year I’ve been able to check off two of my biggest bucket list locations when I went to Bali and Australia and had an amazing time with my family in Ecuador, plus a bunch of smaller trips here in the US!
I’ve spent a lot of time over the past couple of weeks doing some research (travel resources list to come I promise?) on a few more places on my 2016 travel wish list. I’ve done a lot of international travel in my life but I feel like I haven’t done a lot of travel right here at home, so this year I’m definitely excited to explore some new cities on my 2016 travel wish list!
This one’s been on my list since I almost spent my senior year spring break there. Between the food, design, history and culture it seems like such a cool city and I can’t wait to explore it!
Another one that’s been on my list for years. I don’t know if it’s the music, the food or the colors but there’s something about this city that piqued my curiosity and I haven’t been able to let it go. I’m hoping to hit cultural hotspot later this summer with a friend from London who is hopping across the pond for a few days.
I think I could spend every weekend for the next year going to a different spot in California and only see half of all this amazing state has to offer. With Palm Springs only a couple hours away I am dying to do a little weekend getaway and see this incredibly colorful city!
I’ve never been to Texas, other than driving through it very briefly on my drive across the country a few years ago, Austin seems like the perfect place to introduce me to the state. Everyone I know who has been absolutely raves about it, also it’s the home of Whole Foods so it has to be good, right?
If you’ve been following along for a while then you know I absolutely love to travel and do it quite a bit. If you’re following me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen that in the past few months I’ve hit a few cities from Vail to Miami, it’s been a lot of fun to see some new places that I’ve never been before!
With a few more fun trips on the books I’ll be doing something a little different when it comes to travel posts! I wanted to come up with a better way to share with my travel with y’all, in a way that gave you the best information, so with that said I’m announcing new city guides!
These guides will include everything from a featured hotel to my favorite spots to eat and fun things you can do! I’ll be starting next week with a peek into my trip to Minneapolis back in December. I’ll also be adding guides for places we’ve already talked about like Charleston and Bali, I am so excited to be able to look back at some of my favorite trips over the past few years and put together this new format of city guides!
I’m so excited to be finally announcing new city guides, I’ve been working on them for a while and I hope it proves to be a great resource for y’all with all my travel resources and city guides in one spot to help with any trips you might be planning!
Since I want these to be as helpful as possible for you, I’d love to hear your input, is there anything you’d absolutely love to see in these city guides?
This last trip to Portland I really wanted to do something different, I’ve explored a lot of the city and the surrounding area but never made it down to the Portland Saturday Market so we put it on the list!
The weather during my trip was seriously amazing, cool, crisp and not a cloud in the sky, so much better than the usual cold rainy Portland November. So we bundled up (because apparently I’ve moved to San Diego and can no longer handle the cold) and headed downtown to walk around and hit the Portland Saturday Market!
The market is massive, double if not three times the size of Eastern Market and they have everything you could possibly imagine. I wish I had thought ahead better, I could have done all of my Christmas shopping in one place. But we all know what a great packer I am and there was absolutely no room left in my suitcase so that wasn’t going to happen.
After walking around the market for a while we spent some time just wandering around the Pearl District (my favorite part of Portland) and along the river.
Did I mention what an absolutely amazing day it was?
I was pretty freezing by this point in the day and loving every minute of it. It felt and looked like fall and I had definitely been missing that in San Diego!
I was loving walking through (and playing in) the crunchy leaves. I might still be 5 guys.
I can’t believe I’ve been to Portland as many times as I have and this is the first time we went to the market. Especially, because I’m a tad obsessed with farmers markets. It was the perfect way to walk off some of the pie If you’re in Portland or planning a Portland Saturday Market and a walk through the Pearl to your list.
Have you been to the Portland Saturday Market?
