Finding Inspiration

finding inspiration

How is it only Wednesday? It’s been one of those weeks where Tuesday was the Monday-est Tuesday and Monday was pretty Monday too. I’ve been non-stop at work and by the time I get home, exercise, cook dinner and clean up it’s already 9:30 and I can barely keep my eyes open. It’s been a crazy few weeks and I’m definitely still trying to figure out my routine now that I’m back in an office full time (I feel like I’ve had to find a new routine every few months for the past year and a half, hoping this one sticks for quite a while.)

I found my motivation to get back into this blogging thing, finally, but now with my crazy schedule and being pretty exhausted finding inspiration has been tough. If it’s not one thing it’s another, right? I’ve bene searching for some serious inspiration the last couple weeks to build a seriously awesome content calendar for y’all and I thought I’d share the ways I’ve been finding inspiration, in case you’re in the same boat as me!

There is definitely no cookie cutter formula for finding inspiration, everyone is different but here are a few things that have been helping me!

1 // pinterest: this one almost goes without saying, because I mean isn’t this what Pinterest was created for? It’s an online bulletin/dream/inspiration/motivation board so get pinning and I’m willing to bet you’ll find some inspiration.

2 // get outside: sometimes when I’m feeling uninspired I just need to get outside, go for a walk or run or just go sit somewhere and read a book. What better to get inspired by than your surroundings?

3 // read some blogs: I think the best way to get inspiration is to poke around the blogosphere and see what all the other amazing blogger babes are doing on their blogs. It can be hard not to compare yourself to others in this world of blogging so early on I decided that instead of being jealous of the amazing campaigns and blog posts other bloggers were doing I would just get inspired and push myself to get there too. I’m still doing it and it is definitely my best source of inspiration!

4 // look through pictures: if you’re like me you have an obnoxious amount of pictures and on your phone on your laptop, sometimes when I’m feeling uninspired I go back through some of my pictures. Whether it’s something I screens hotted or a picture from a trip I took ages ago, usually I can find some inspiration by taking a look.

5 // read a book: relax, turn your brain off and get away from your technology for a while. Get inspired by a great writer, even better if the book you’re reading can transport you to another place, you’ll be amazed how great you’ll feel after a little break to read something great.

6 // make a list: remember when I talked about writers block and my 31 things trick? It remains true that making a list of everything on my mind can usually spark some inspiration.
