{weekly words of wisdom} joan rivers

today was a sad day, around 1:00 joan rivers passed away. when i heard, i was devastated but i was also relieved because i realized i hadn’t gotten around to posting this week’s words because. honestly, i can’t think of a better person to dish out this weeks words of wisdom than the amazing joan rivers. and she was a trailblazer, in comedy and fashion, and she wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is, no matter how ugly it was, in fact when it came to fashion, the uglier the better!

joan rivers tells it like it is

“yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is god’s gift, that’s why we call it the present”

“i enjoy life when things are happening. i don’t care if it’s good things or bad things. that means you’re alive. things are happening.”

joan rivers quote

“life is very tough. if you don’t laugh, it’s tough.”

“i have become my own version of an optimist. if i can’t make it through one door, i’ll go through another door – or i’ll make a door. something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.”

joan rivers doesn't hold back

“when i die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything’s in your name), i want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action… i want craft services, i want paparazzi and i want publicists making a scene!

i want it to be hollywood all the way. i don’t want some rabbi rambling on; i want meryl streep crying, in five different accents. i don’t want a eulogy; i want bobby vinton to pick up my head and sing mr. lonely.

i want to look gorgeous, better dead than i do alive. i want to be buried in a valentino gown and i want harry winston to make me a toe tag. and i want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like beyonce’s.”

well joan, i hope you’re resting easy up there, sitting in a comfy chair laughing your butt off at all our reactions to your death, judging what we’re wearing and telling everyone exactly how it is! i hope your funeral is everything you dreamed it to be, and that you’re wearing the most fabulous gown imaginable. thanks for being an amazing comedian, fashionista and woman for all of us to admire!
