Today’s post is a little different, we’re going to hear from a dear friend of mine, Aisha, about her experiences as a business owner. Aisha is a merchandiser for Chloe and Isabel, a jewelry company based in NYC. Chloe and Isabel’s jewelry is all designed and sourced in NYC and is hypoallergenic and nickel free, it has a lifetime replacement and 30-day money back guarantee. The jewelry is high quality and gorgeous, I have several pieces that I’ve purchased from Aisha’s boutique and I love, love, love them all!!
I hope you enjoy reading what she has to say, I’m thinking about turning this into a series where I chat with business owners and entrepreneurs about their advice and experience, what do y’all think?
Tell us a little bit about Chloe and Isabel and why you got involved!
Chloe and Isabel is both a brand and opportunity for women to be at the center of the business by selling high quality jewelry, designed and sourced in New York City through their own boutique. Chloe and Isabel allows women to feel empowered and, to find their own professional and creative voices. Most importantly Chloe and Isabel allows merchandisers to be part of a wonderful community that encourages one another, and helps each other grow. At first I was drawn in to C&I when I spotted the Morningtide Convertible Collar necklace, I fell in love with it instantly. After I began learning about the community, however, I knew that this was a company and opportunity I wanted to be part of.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about my job is building relationships with my customers and with other Chloe and Isabel merchandisers. Even though I am selling jewelry through my boutique, Chloe and Isabel gives me the opportunity to strengthen relationships with those around me and to be involved in my community.
How do you find a good work/life balance?
The great thing about being a Chloe and Isabel is that you get to create your own schedule. I plan how many hours each day/week I am going to work and am able to fit other activities I love to do in my schedule.
What have been your biggest struggles?
One of my biggest struggles has been selling jewelry items to college students. Chloe and Isabel jewelry is high quality jewelry that is priced oftentimes above $20 per piece, which deters this age group from purchasing it. I think they feel they can go to a store such as forever 21 or Francesca’s and purchase something for half the price. What differentiates Chloe and Isabel is the lifetime money back guarantee policy- which allows a customer to get the jewelry item replaced throughout their life as many times as they need at no cost, when the jewelry breaks, starts to tarnish, or if they simply are not 100% satisfied. Can you imagine the comfort of knowing you can throughout your life get these jewelry items replaced?
What’s the best advice you’ve received since you started?
The best advice I’ve received since I’ve started has been to learn from my failures and stay positive! There definitely have been months where I’ve struggled to sell something and it is easy to get discouraged but there have also been times where I’ve been successful so staying positive and remembering why I am doing this, keeps me going!
