I hope everyone had a good weekend and a great Easter Sunday! Whether you were celebrating Easter, Passover, Palm Sunday or just bottomless brunches, I hope you spent it with friends and family, soaked up some of the sun (hopefully, you’re in warmer places than I was!), relaxed and recharged for the week ahead!
One of my favorite parts of Easter has always been getting all dressed up. Easter usually kicked off spring for me in my mind (definitely in my mind since there’s almost always still snow on the ground in Boston). It also always meant shopping with my mom and sister every year for a new dress to wear. While we definitely don’t get quite as dressed up as we used to I still love being able to wear a new dress or outfit on Easter to kick off Spring!
I found this dress at JCrew and absolutely fell in love with it (especially since it was marked down so much!). I was not going to let the very cold New England Easter stop me from wearing it!
I have far too much navy blue in my wardrobe so I went for the mint version of this dress but it also comes in navy and orange. I usually hesitate with shift dresses because I don’t think they are the most flattering on me but I loved the laser cut and scalloped edging on this one and I have to say it’s actually one of the few shift dresses that I love even without the belt. I absolutely love the citrus and mint color combination though, so I paired it with belt for Easter Sunday; I think the same belt would be such an amazing pop of color with the navy version as well!
Not pictured: the very old, very worn, bright pink down puffer North Face jacket that I absolutely had to have in 7th grade that I had wrapped around my legs in the car while I was thawing out. Or the old woman that kept yelling at my sister and me that we were crazy and needed to put jackets on!
That little red building behind me is called the Motif No. 1, also known as “the little fish shack which refused to go away” and “the most painted building in America”
If you are anything like me and have a knack for noticing obscure details in movies you might recognize the Motif from Finding Nemo: the dentist has a painting of it hanging over the fish tank. You could have also seen it in The Proposal: Rockport was the backdrop for a lot of the movie (no, sorry, those mountains don’t exist).
My sister Alli and I have spent half our lives in Rockport so we had a lot of fun goofing around and taking these pictures. I was so excited to be able to use the Motif as a backdrop.
I think a neutral blush or white bag is perfect for this outfit, but this Kate Spade cross body is my go-to purse when I have to pack for trips. This little bag has held up for four years that consisted of countless trips around the country and most of Europe. And it still looks as great as the day I bought it!If you’re looking for a good cross body bag, I cannot recommend this one highly enough. Plus it comes in three other colors (I love the pebble!)

It was great to be home this year for Easter (although I would have been okay with the DC weather following me – 36 degrees on April 5th is too cold in my book). We had a fairly low key day: church, an amazing brunch and then dinner with family in Rockport. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with my family and visit some of my favorite places in the world. I’m definitely looking forward to spending a couple more days in the tundra Boston before heading back to DC.
How did you spend the Holiday? Did you get all dressed up or have a more casual day?
