This is not only my last post of 2019, but my last post here on Bree West.
When I started this blog in 2014, I didn’t expect it to become all that it did. It brought me friendships, incredible travel experiences, brand partnerships I never would have dreamed of, the opportunity to run a business, and so many skills and lessons that have translated beyond this corner of the internet and will stick with me forever.
When I moved back to D.C. in the summer of 2016 it was because I had decided I didn’t want to make blogging my forever job, I loved so many aspects of it but I missed politics and helping to create policy. The past few years I’ve been able to keep blogging but my attention has been divided and it’s not fair to the community I’ve built here and is no longer something I can manage.
This fall I had an incredible career opportunity presented to me, I started in my new role earlier this month and have found that it is truly a dream position (and one I didn’t even know I wanted). Over the past three weeks I’ve been able to develop and execute strategy and begin to learn what managing a team requires. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy at work and I want to throw myself into it 120%.
Which means, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this part of the past decade that has brought me so much joy and helped get me to where I am.
Thank you for being a part of this community, for engaging with my content and helping me work with brands I never imagined. Thank you for giving me a voice and allowing me into your lives, whether it was to point out a killer deal or help you plan your next trip.
The past decade has been full of highs and lows and you’ve been there for a lot of them. I hope this space has helped show you that we all have good days and bad, and served as a resource. I’m sad to say goodbye but so excited to see what 2020 and the next decade has to offer. I’ll still be posting on Instagram here and there but it will definitely be more candid and fewer amazing Alicia Bruce pics, but if you want to keep up and follow along, I’d love to stay connected with you there.
Happy New Year and truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
