It’s been a while since I last talked about my travel uniform so I thought it was about time I give you guys an update! While, my general approach to my travel uniform hasn’t changed – it’s still all about comfort and layers that are easy to wear for long periods of time – I wanted to share this sweater blazer from J.Crew which is the real show stopper from my recent “uniform.”
My formula to a great travel uniform? Lightweight top, cozy sweater, comfortable pants, shoes that easily slide on and off, and a weekender bag!
While sometimes I deviate from this formula and throw my favorite cashmere travel wrap, if you bump into me in the airport, chances are I’m wearing some variation of this outfit. The reason I love this sweater blazer so much (and I really love it, I have it in 4 colors) is because it’s perfect to wear to the office or with jeans, if you’ve been around here for a while you probably know that tends to be a theme in my wardrobe…
I’m really all about layering pieces when traveling, you never know what the temperature of the plane is going to be. Truly, I’ve been all bundled up in a lightweight down jacket and cashmere wrap on planes but still shivering and I’ve experienced the total opposite. Having layers allows you to easily adjust for whatever temperature the cabin is set to.
Another reason layers are great? If you’re traveling to places with different climates it’s nice to be able to easily shed or add a layer when you land, instead of feeling like you have to completely change immediately! Because I tend to want to maximize my time on the ground in a new city, I rarely leave time to go to the hotel and change before going out and exploring. Layers (for the most part) allow me to be able to enjoy the climate I’ve just landed in!
We’ll save the bags for another day as they really deserve their moment in the spotlight, but if curiosity is killing you you can shop them here!
