As we wrap up 2014 this week (can you believe it!?) I’ve been reflecting a lot on every aspect of my life, but I will admit I’ve been giving bree west a little bit of extra attention. I took advantage of being [seemingly] the only person in DC last week and over the weekend and sat down to try and wrap up the year and do some major planing for 2015.
The end of the year is a great time for reflection and setting up the next year. With the holidays here it’s nice to be able to take some of the down time you may have, whether you’re like me and one of the few people in the office this week or just have some time to kill while you’re relaxing at home in between family party madness (been there I feel for ya), it’s a perfect time to look back and reflect and wrap up!
Here are some of the things I’ve been focusing on the last week or so, to help wrap up 2014 before jumping into the new year!
Look Back :: This year I’ve been fortunate enough to have the year mostly documented here, the other day I spent a couple of hours going through old posts, looking at stats, and seeing what worked and what didn’t. It’s so important to reflect not only on each one of our successes but also to look at where we fell down, what didn’t work and how we can improve, learn and grow from each failure!
Digital Clean Up :: I am a complete email hoarder, we’re talking emails dating back to 2007 still in my inbox. It’s a major problem, every year at this time I try and go through my inbox and sort, delete, and follow up on any emails I may have missed. It makes it so much easier when I’m looking for something specific to be able to know what folder it’s in, or if I’ve already finished a project being able to delete the emails is almost as satisfying as crossing something off a to-do list! I also like to use unroll to go through and unsubscribe to all the emails I don’t ever open! Whether it’s cleaning up your inbox chaos or organizing social media to make it work for you, in this digital age that we live in, it’s so important not to let this part of your life get out of control. Spend some time now to make your life a little easier next year!
Plan :: Okay, so obviously you’re not going to plan out the entire 2015 in the next 3 days, but, one thing that is definitely doable is setting those few major goals you have for the year and trying to figure out some steps you know you can plan now to accomplish! Even if it’s just devoting time in your planner to each specific goal there are aspects of 2015 that we are definitely able to plan for now. Setting out as many dates as I can in my planner this week will help me stay organized in the new year.
Closet Purge :: This might just be the most important one on the list for me. Spend sometime this week going through your closet, the best way for me to do this is to pull everything out and put it on my bed and then go through it all piece by piece and see what I’m keeping, what needs to be donated and what can get dropped off at the consignment shop. Then, and this is my favorite part, I get to completely reorganize my closet. Even if it only stays that way for a couple of days it’s so refreshing to be able to have my closet totally organized and decluttered and full of pieces I know I love and wear all the time!
Whatever you need to cross off your to do list for 2014, get it done this week, won’t it feel great to be able to move into 2015 without having to look back and finish up those things you put off all year? Wrap up the year so you can start looking ahead to have a kickass 2015! Start setting those resolutions and looking forward to what 2015 has in store for you and don’t forget to remember and celebrate all of your accomplishments from 2014, because no matter what happened this year it was an amazing year and you’ve learned and grown even if it doesn’t feel that way!
