With all the big changes happening around here, I’m really excited to be able to start over with a clean slate, not only with my career but also with my health and diet. I’ve been trying really hard to eat better in the last six months and though I’ve been largely successful it was always so easy to cheat and pop something in the microwave or order take out when I was tired after a long day at work. That combined with the lack of motivation to exercise resulted in gaining quite a bit of weight that I’d really like to be rid of before spending three weeks on a beach in Bali. Note to self: just because you’re training for a marathon does not mean you get to eat anything you want… I’m taking advantage of my newfound free time and really focusing on getting into a routine of taking better care of myself, eating healthier and hopefully getting into better shape!
Enter Martha Stewart’s Clean Slate.
I picked it up the other day at Barnes & Noble and have already read through it! It has an amazing guide to clean eating, tips, “golden rules” for living a healthier lifestyle and more than 160 great and easy recipes for everything from juice to dinner entrees! The recipes are sectioned out into six chapters, each with a different focus: Replenish, Reboot, Recharge, Reenergize, Restore, Relax. The guide component is what made the book so appealing to me. Unlike a lot of health books that just give general guidelines and suggestions, Clean Slate includes two guides: a three-day cleanse and 21 day whole body detox. Both include detailed daily menus using the recipes in the book as well as tips on how to stay on track.
I’m hoping that by essentially starting from scratch with a clean slate I’ll be able to get into a more solid routine of cooking and eating healthier, exercising more and eating take out less. I’m so excited to start the 21 day detox this weekend to reset my body before my trip to Bali. I’ll be sure to check in with y’all a couple of times in the next few weeks and let you know how Clean Slate is working its way into my lifestyle. If any of you have any tips before I start I’d love to hear them!!
Have you jumped on the clean eating bandwagon?
