I’ve talked a lot about sweaters and outerwear this fall, layers upon layers tends to be my number one focus this time of year but pants are the best part of this time of year. Don’t get me wrong, I love summertime, the warm weather that allow for dresses, skirts and shorts everyday but jeans weather is my favorite. Even in the summer, I love those cool summer nights when I can pull on my jeans and not feel like I’m melting. So when this time of year rolls around, you can imagine how happy I get that I can pull out my stack of must have pants for fall and winter!
Jeans:: as I mentioned, I can’t really live without my skinny jeans, they’re perfect with a pair of flats or loafers and easy to tuck into boots. Jeans are tough, and it’s easy to give up and just grab the first pair that look halfway decent, it’s worth it to spend the time to find a pair of really great jeans. They don’t have to the the most expensive pair either, I love my Levi’s and pretty much live in them but I finally jumped on the Boyfriend jean style and these from Old Navy are super comfortable and look great!
Leggings:: I have a pair of leggings I change into pretty much every time I walk into my apartment, and leggings are perfect for running errands or on those days that are so cold and dreary you don’t want to function. They’re the perfect pants to throw on with a big cozy sweater!
Cords:: for a long time I boycotted cords, I’m not sure why, maybe because my mom bought them for us every year and I never really like them and I never liked the way they fit. I found these skinny ones last year from J.Crew and love them. They’re perfect to tuck into boots and they look great, bonus they’re white. I like this new Winter white trend, a few years ago I’d never wear white after Labor Day but I really like the way it looks with some of my Fall and Winter outfits!
Holiday:: one fun pair of pants is necessary for all of the holiday parties, or just to dress up a simple top or sweater. I really like these, especially for holiday parties!
Work:: once the temperatures drop I almost never wear dresses or skirts to work, every once in a while with a pair of tights. But for work it’s so much easier, warmer and comfier to wear a pair of pants. Banana Republic is one of my go to’s for dress pants, I really like these!
Chinos:: perfect for those days that you need something a bit dressier than jeans but not quite work pants! Love these ones or these!
What are your must have pants for fall and winter?
When did it get to be October 24? Honestly I can’t believe how fast this month has flown by. My favorite month is almost over which means it’s almost birthday month! But more on that later… I’m finally going apple picking this weekend and couldn’t be more excited, I also have a fun weekend of brunch, fall baking and decorating, crafting and movies with some good friends planned out, my favorite kind of girls weekend is one where I can wear yoga pants for the majority of it so it will be fun! I need to finish putting together my Halloween costume for next week, I decided on Gatsby, it will be very similar to the costume I shared the other day, I’m so excited to do something a little different and definitely more glam than in past years! Are you dressing up this year?
I’m still having some major technical issues, my MacBook Pro, aka my baby, might be finally dead. It’s been a good long run and it got me through many all-nighters and last minute paper deadlines in college and has been a trooper throughout the last (almost) year of launching bree west and I think it may be time to put it to rest. But we’ll see, it’s in the trusty hands of the Geniuses so hopefully they can once again work some magic and revive it! That was my way of explaining my failures for this week with my posts! I owe you a few, I will try and get some fantastic new ones up this weekend in between all my adventures! In the meantime I thought I’d share a few things on my radar this week to keep those of you who have are even still reading this entertained!
I hope you all had a lovely week and will have an even better weekend! Hopefully the we will be lucky enough to have another beautiful weekend of perfect fall weather for apple picking, pumpkin carving, brunch, hikes and runs outside and all the other great fall activities you may have planned! I’d love to see anything you have on your radar this week so drop me a line down below and I’ll be sure to check it out!
I really love Halloween, mostly because it gives me an excuse to dress up and go to costume parties and see everyone else’s amazing creativity when it comes to dressing up. I’ve never been the most creative when it comes to my Halloween costumes, I’ve had years of Risky Business, Flash Dance, and various Disney characters. but this year I’ll be in Charleston with a couple of friends and we’re going on a river cruise. I felt like the occasion warranted a little bit more effort on my part so the last couple of days I’ve been trying to come up with some awesome, but easy DIY Halloween costume ideas!

Flapper costumes are so easy and always look gorgeous, I love the idea of a beaded white or ivory dress instead of the traditional black flapper dress! These costumes are so fun because you can deck out in seriously fun 1920’s costume jewelry!
This is definitely one of my favorite Halloween costume ideas, I think it would also be so cute with a DIY black tutu and tank top instead of a LBD! You can also grab a vintage cigarette holder to help complete the look, add some big sparkly earrings and of course oversized sunnies!
I love that a lot of these pieces I already have, it’s just a matter of getting the right accessories to turn regular every day clothes into a Halloween costume.
How do you celebrate Halloween? Are you dressing up, if so what’s are your favorite Halloween costume ideas?
