I love this time of year, with the holidays just around the corner everyone seems to be in the mood to give thanks and be kind. I love seeing all the random acts of kindness that take place around the holidays – it’s a month (or two if we’re lucky) that kind of restores my faith in humanity a little bit. From small act like dropping a quarter into the meter to prevent someone from getting a ticket or buying someone’s coffee, to the bigger ones like paying for someone’s meal or volunteering your time to help those in need, that can really warm your heart this time of year.
With the holidays coming up I want to challenge everyone to perform a couple of random acts of kindness, something as simple as buying a cup of coffee for the car behind you in the drive through. If we start it now then hopefully it will continue through the rest of the year!
Did you see the new Cinderella trailer this morning? I’m kind of obsessed with Cinderella so I was so excited for the trailer to come out. I watched the premier and haven’t been able to get this quote out of my head all day. Probably because it is so true: having courage and kindness are two of the most important qualities I can think of to help you make it through life. Kindness especially. It’s easy to be rude to someone who is being unkind to you but showing them kindness can be so much more powerful, you don’t know their situation and it could change their day completely!
“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” -Audrey Hepburn
“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.” -William Arthur Ward
“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see.” -Mark Twain
“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention” -Oscar Wilde
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you” –Princess Diana
Have you ever experienced a random act of kindness? What are your favorite ways to show kindness to others?
