Workwear Wednesday Vol. 3

J.Crew Workwear Staple

I have been wanting to talk to y’all about these workwear pants since I discovered them in March or so of last year but just kept forgetting, so a couple weeks ago when Alicia came up to D.C. to take some photos I made sure this look was at the top of my list because they are everything.

A little backstory…. I had been on the hunt for the perfect work pant forever, we’re talking years. I wear dresses to work more often than not but a couple of years ago I was working in an office that was a lot more casual and all of my dresses just felt too formal. I went through seemingly every black pant on the market and hated most of them, then finally last spring I saw the East Pant at J.Crew and decided to give them a shot. I haven’t looked back since. In fact, I now own them in 4 colors and they are pretty much the only workwear pant I own (I have my eye on the lace version right now, I think they’d be so perfect for the holiday season!)

I love the fit of these, because I’m so tall (I’m 5’11”) I often have a hard time with these cropped pants (which is basically every women’s workwear pant on the market) they either are way too short or just a hair too long and look strange on me, but these hit right at the perfect point. They also have a wider leg which I love.

But the best part? There’s an elastic waistband.

This time of year I love this style for work, it’s a little more casual but still put together, most importantly the cashmere sweater, makes it warm. I can even get away with it in a more formal office, although I usually swap out my flats or loafers for a pair of pumps. For a casual Friday or frankly running errands on the weekend, I swap the easy pant for a pair of jeans and it’s the perfect outfit. This particular sweater is one of my all time favorite items of clothing, it is so soft and works really well year round, unfortunately, it’s old from Vineyard Vines, but I linked a very similar one below!
